Salary: £27,976 pro rata (£11,190 actual for 2 days per week)
Hours: Part time, 16 hours over three days per week
The Shieldfield Youth Programme offers opportunities for young people to develop their skills and talents, exploring new ways of thinking and doing things together in a supportive environment. It aims to empower people to become active members of the local community, is locally rooted and thematically strong; instilling values of solidarity, social and economic justice and creativity.
Young people have been at the heart of the programme since its inception and since launching in Spring 2021, the Youth Programme has grown to include over 100 young people in Shieldfield.
On 16 hours a week split across 3 days, the Sessional Youth Worker will support detached work, our usual weekly sessional delivery, activities, trips and events–as well as delivering exciting projects with artists and the wider Youth Programme team as part of Dwellbeing Shieldfield and The NewBridge Project, in line with the values of both organisations.
The Shieldfield Youth Programme at present includes:
Weekly detached youth work (on Monday’s between 3:45pm - 4:45pm)
Regular youth creative activity groups (two hour long sessions on a Wednesday. 3:45pm - 4:45pm for ages 8 and under, 5:15pm - 6:15pm for ages 9-11).
Shieldfield Sounds, happening every Thursday from 4–6pm that uses music as a way to tackle racism.
Occasional weekend and holiday delivery - including field trips, residentials, summer school holiday activities, and wider holiday cover.
