Safer Spaces Agreement

This agreement was written by and with the contributions from Dwellbeing members and Forum Cafe volunteers as part of our joint project, ‘Strengthening Connections in Shieldfield’. Our aim is to create safe, welcoming and fun spaces (online and offline) where everyone can Flourish Together.

Space Agreement

Do be aware of your own boundaries – be brave but avoid overly emotive subjects and be careful

how much personal information you share.

Welcome people, be neighbourly, supportive, patient and caring.

Enjoy the shared time, be open and have a positive frame of mind.

Listen and show respect for others by allowing people to speak before yourself.

Learn together, share knowledge, qualities and talents.

Be kind and don’t prejudge about the religion, class, age, abilities, sexuality, gender identity,

experiences, feelings and boundaries of others.

Encourage people to participate, explore ways to contribute and ask if you do not understand. It

is OK to make mistakes.

It is necessary to keep calm and curb bad language.

No-one should break confidentiality - what is said in the room stays in the room.

Give credit and show appreciation for the hard work of others.
