Shieling Working Group develops and steers our Shieling programme which focuses on improving the urban environment, ecology and green spaces in Shieldfield. We have been going for over 5 years and the group is always open to new members.
We meet on the first Tuesday of each month,
usually at Forum Cafe 3.30 -5pm. Between meetings there is an option to
communicate via email or WhatsApp.
Activities planned by the group include:
Monthly Neighbourhood Care Walkarounds, where we do litter picking and other actions, with time to chat and share food afterwards
Looking after the community wildflower meadow
Shieldfield Grows, in partnership with Shieldfield Art Works, which promotes sustainable practices of food growing with regular growing sessions, workshops, trips, meals, and seasonal celebrations
Co-design of public space improvements, bringing the local authority and other agencies together with local people to shape the physical future of Shieldfield
Traineeship in Urban Design
Art projects in the public realm
